Mac Miller had several projects in the works prior to his 2018 passing, including his sixth mixtape, I Love Life, Thank You, which was released in July 2022.

On March 28, 2023, hip-hop producer Madlib revealed that he's working on even more of Miller's unfinished projects, including another posthumous release.

“Right now, I’m finishing up the Mac Miller album, the Planet Asia album, and the Erykah Badu album,” he said during an appearance on Sway in the Morning, via Billboard.

The announcement comes four years after Miller’s producer Thelonious Martin teased a Miller x Madlib collab.

During a 2019 interview with DJ Booth, Martin said: “[Madlib] just randomly plays a Mac Miller joint. And I turn to him, I’m like, ‘There’s more of these, right?’ He’s said, ‘Oh, yeah, there’s a whole album. Maclib.'

“If Madlib decides to bless the world with that project, he should.”

How did Mac Miller die?

Over the years, Miller struggled with substance abuse, which ultimately played a role in his split from Ariana Grande.

A few weeks after the breakup in May 2018, he fell into a spiral and was arrested on suspicion of DUI, and then found dead in his Los Angeles home in September.

According to the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office, the 26-year-old died from a lethal mix of fentanyl, cocaine, and alcohol.

In May 2022, his dealer was then sentenced to 17 and a half years in prison for supplying the rapper with fentanyl-laced pills.
